HSwMS VÄSTERGÖTLAND acted as DISSUB, FRN BSHM AILETTE acted as VOO, FRN BSR ELAN for mooring operations and HDMS LÆSO for operation support were together in area ALFA on the 26th of May for a PODEX.

AILETTE supported the French Atmospheric Diving Suit (ADS) operated by CEPHISMER, the French Navy Underwater Intervention and Human Diving Unit.

The aim of the exercise was to deliver a pod to the distressed submarine. Pods are used for emergency life support delivery using the escape tower for a wet transfer. Such operations are usually done by divers in shallow water and ROV in deep water.

The ADS operated by the French Navy is design to operate up to 300 meters depth giving the advantage of a human presence on site with no time limit.
