The medical experiment at the bottom of Kattegat has come to an end

HNOMS UtsiraThe arrival of the Norwegian submarine UTSIRA officially puts Dr. Jan Risberg medical experiment with half of the crew to an end. UTSIRA arrived 1630 at Naval Base Frederikshavn, half an hour earlier than expected.

HNOMS UtsiraUTSIRA has been lying ‘dead’ at the bottom of the sea for six days. Half the submarine has been sealed off containing 18 members of the crew. The level of oxygen has been reduced to 17% and the level C02 has been increased considerably. The first part of the exercise the crew lied in dark. They have only been feed emergency rations containing 1000 kcal. All the participants managed the exercise well. 
A couple can be pleased that they have lost a kilo or two.

The men of UTSIRA can look forward to spending a night in a hotel bed and a good meal, before they are off to sea again. UTSIRA leaves Naval Base Frederikshavn 0800 the 29th. to continue participation in SORBET ROYAL 2002.
