Ship Ahoy for HDMS HAVKATTEN

Home

For some it can be a rather boring duty for others pure routine. But one thing is for certain the ship HAVKATTEN is busy and at the same time conducting a very important assignment during Sorbet Royal.

HDMS HavkattenHAVKATTEN is used as a transport ship during the exercise, and by transport is meant transport of passengers. The exercise staff, observers, submarine specialists, seamen and press who are going to some of the activities and ships included in the exercise which by one reason or the other is situated 40 nautical miles from Frederikshavn.

These journeys take up to an hour and a half both ways so you could almost talk about regular service. And that can be a bit dull when the HAVKATTEN and it’s crew would rather have participated actively in the exercise and have seen some more of the seagoing activities.

But the work of the HAVKATTEN is for the happiness and benefit of the passengers. Without the HAVKATTEN they would be going nowhere, and it is on the sea the action takes place.

During the transportation you can get a look at the Danish Navy’s everyday life, with a glimpse of corridors, cabins and living rooms and an interesting look at the bridge and the Danish technology.
